A vision of creating Australia’s first health retreat was all it took for retail baron Mark Foy to begin his wellness journey. Constructed in 1903, the same year Foy successfully applied to change the township name to Medlow Bath, The Hydro Majestic Hotel opened its doors in July 1904 – complete with a steam-driven generator imported from Germany and working electricity (four whole days before Sydney).
Having attracted guests from around Australia and the world, including Dame Nellie Melba and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the hotel was also once turned into a hospital for American casualties from the battles of the Coral Sea and South Pacific.
Beautifully restored to its former glory following multi-million-dollar renovations, The Hydro Majestic Hotel offers Art Deco-inspired accommodation in a luxe escape to yesteryear. Bookings (except for cruise bookings, flights and deposit fee, if applicable, which are subject to the cancellation terms of the relevant supplier) may be cancelled with a full refund provided that cancellation occurs strictly within 7 days from the date of purchase and provided that the cancellation is made no less than 14 days prior to the check-in date. - Daily sparkling wine breakfast comprises a full buffet breakfast and a glass of sparkling wine.
- Breakfast is served in the Belgravia Lobby Lounge from 7am to 10am.
- The three-course dinner upgrade is available from 6pm to 8pm daily at The Wintergarden. Reservations must be made with the hotel prior to arrival. The bottle of wine is a choice between a white, red or sparkling from Victoria Park, or this can be exchanged for sparkling water, soft drinks or juice.
- The history tour runs for 45 minutes and is available daily at 11am and 3pm departing from the Casino Lobby. Prebooking with the hotel reservation team is required.
- Dining Credit: The credit must be used during the guest’s stay and is valid exclusively for food and drinks at onsite restaurants and outlets. Guests are required to charge their expenses to their rooms for validation, with a signature needed at the point of sale to confirm the charges. Please note that any unused portion of the credit is non-refundable and cannot be issued as a credit.
